This is the project homepage for the Discussionweb project.
Discussionweb is a free, BSD-licensed discussion forum application for the Oracle database, written in Oracle PL/SQL. In its current version, it provides multiple forums, user and administrator accounts, threaded discussions, file uploads, and full message searching. The look and feel can be customised, and, as it's free software, you are able to modify the program as you see fit.
Discussionweb was originally written by Mark Rittman of Plus Consultancy, and was subsequently build on and further developed by Tim White, also of Plus Consultancy. We are grateful to Plus for their time and support during this project.
Discussionweb was developed using Oracle 8.1.7, and then 9i, running on a Windows 2000 platform. It has not been tested on any *nix platform, though it should work ok as all the program logic is in PL/SQL. We have made the program files and documentation available in both .tar.gz and .zip archive format, for Unix and NT use respectively, but other than that, the Unix and NT versions are identical. The project documentation is also available in MS Word format as well.
The project is live and we are accepting suggestions and bug fix requests. We'd also be glad to have anyone on board who can contribute to the code base.
Here's the rest of the site;
Discussionweb is kindly hosted by Sourceforge, and was made possible through the support of Plus Consultancy, Brighton UK.
